ePortfolio brief definition:
1. an institutional repository with functionality to link student work to learning outcomes; accountability; accreditation; institutional assessment
2. a student learning portfolio owned by the student to make her work selectively visible to others, and increase opportunities for reflection and awareness of herself as a learner.
The technology does nothing by itself. But if educators transform teaching methods and develop a learning outcomes rubric structure, an ePortfolio initiative may succeed. The fundamental curricular change must come first.
